"Quote That"

Hello everyone,
Below is a quote I recently printed and placed on my desk:
“I am not a teacher; only a fellow traveler of whom you asked the way. I pointed ahead—ahead of myself as well as of you.”
— George Bernard Shaw (as cited in Melrose et al., 2021)
This quote resonates with my view of teaching as facilitation rather than transmission. From a social constructivist perspective, learning is co-constructed through interaction within a community of practice, with the instructor providing guidance and scaffolding (Lockey et al., 2020; Melrose et al., 2021). This also aligns with adult learning theory, including andragogy and heutagogy, where learners bring prior experience and are supported as self-directed, reflective participants who take ownership of their learning (Lockey et al., 2020). Through experiential learning, authentic cases, and evolving technologies, adult learners can actively apply, reflect on, and adapt knowledge. This way, both students and instructors remain lifelong learners (Kong, 2021; Melrose et al., 2021).
